China Materialia is made up of a team of consulting and venture capital investing professionals. The team has a broad technical, commercial and financial background. Most team members have overseas education and work experience. The senior management team includes:
Min Zhou,Ph.D.,Managing Partner
Min has diverse experience in technology development, business development and venture capital. She is an economy advisor to the Shanghai Yangpu district government, an advisor to the USA Science Festival and a member of the Austrade Eco-wan Initiative Advisory Panel.
Before founding China Materialia LLC, Min was with Silicon Valley Bank Capital, where she was responsible for identifying and evaluating venture capital and private equity fund investments, with a focus on the China market. Prior to SVB Capital, Min was a principal at Unilever Technology Ventures (UTV) where she led investments in companies in the fields of cleantech, semiconductor, medical device, drug development and health and wellness. Prior to UTV, Min worked at Rockwell Scientific, a high-tech enterprise. While there, she led scientific research programs as a senior scientist in the Materials Science division and assisted in technology commercialization and the creation of spin-outs.
Min earned a doctorate in materials science and engineering (with distinction) from University of Southern California, a MBA (with distinction) from the University of California at Los Angeles Anderson School of Management, and a bachelor's degree in materials science from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

Patrick Berbon,Ph.D.,Managing Partner
Dr. Berbon has an extensive background in metallurgy, aerospace, power and cleantech industries. Dr. Berbon has been a Senior Consultant at Performance Improvement, a risk analysis and management company specialized in power industries. Dr. Berbon is also an experienced entrepreneur in the advanced materials space. His prior start-up was successfully listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange. It focuses on advanced nanograin aluminum alloys and its applications. Before his entrepreneurial ventures, Dr. Berbon was a Senior Scientist in Materials Science at Rockwell Scientific Inc.
Patrick specializes in advanced materials and clean technologies, including renewable electricity generation, biofuels for transportation, green building, clean water, clean air, carbon dioxide emissions reduction, recyclable materials, sustainable foresting and agriculture, and energy efficiency.
Dr. Berbon obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, his M.S. from Tsinghua University (China) and M.S./B.S. from Ecole Centrale de Lyon (France), all in Materials Sciences.

Joel Aldridge, Principal
Joel Aldridge has very rich experience in the computer manufacturing industry, telecom products, chemicals, consumer goods, hi-tech financing and China's capital market. From QC and micro-processor assembly work for IBM in the U.S. during its transformation from manufacturing to consulting to a 20-year career in China, Joel has served as Director of Operations in an entrepreneurial venture for the manufacture and export of computers, communications equipment, batteries, chemicals and other products. Over the last 10 years, he has been deeply involved in China's financial sector; engaged in cross-strait PE investment, A/B/H-shares stock market trading and research and most recently serving as the Head of QFII Sales and Business Development for the oldest investment bank in China (Shenyin Wanguo Securities Co.) responsible for the market development of QFII business, service and consulting.

Bill Xu, Principal
Bill has extensive experience in the field of project management, operations and trading. Before joining China Materialia, he served as Deputy General Manager of Ningbo International Healthy City Limited, responsible for operations and management of investment projects. Previously, he worked for Germany Gemu Group’s operation in China, Gemu Valves (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., serving as China projects Assistant New Projects Manager, Purchasing Manager and Chief Operating Officer. He has rich experience in terms of organization, coordination, and team management. Prior to Gemu, he was engaged in the import and export business for Ningbo Import and Export Corporation.
Bill Xu has a B.Sc. degree in German from Tongji University in Shanghai and National second level professional qualification in counseling.

Li Yan, Venture Partner

Mr. Li has a wealth of experience in the management of start-up companies at different stages from founding to mature. He worked in several semiconductor and Integrated Circuit (IC) design companies. He has experience in strategic thinking, financing, mergers and acquisitions, and preparations for Initial Public Offerings (IPO).
Before joining China Materialia LLC, Mr. Liwas the director and co-founder of Apexone Microelectronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. He joined Apexone in the early days, helpedgrow the business, participated in the financing, and in the preparation work for IPO. Prior to joining Apexone, Mr. Liworked in OVAMedia (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. as Financial Vice President (CFO) and Deputy General Manager, responsible for coordinating the production, marketing, financial, and administrative departments. Prior to joining OVAMedia, Mr. Liworked in Science Park Semiconductor (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. as Financial Vice President. He initiated and led the merger of Science Park into Cirrus Logic, a US publicly traded company. He subsequently worked at Cirrus Logic asa senior manager.
Li Yan has a Bachelor degree from Guangxi University,a Master degree from Wuhan University, and a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Kansas.
Jean-Claude Pierre,Venture Partner
Jean-Claude has very strong international management and investment background. Based in England, USA, Germany and China, he has more than 20 years experience in HR management, change management, P&L responsibility, M&A restructuring, start-ups investments & board positions, global strategic planning and execution, new technologies scouting, and strategic alliances. He has been working as Managing Director Global BU and general manager at BECKERS Group. Prior to BECKERS Group, Jean-Claude was Managing Director and CTO at BASF Venture Capital, and before that he was manager at BASF Coatings, responsible for Global Strategic Marketing & Controlling. Previously, he worked at ASHLAND CHEMICAL as Head of Business Development Northern Europe.
Jean-Claude received a MBA degree from Hult Management School in Boston, USA and MSc in Polymer science from ITECH in Lyon, France. He is currently completing his PhD in Organizational Systems at Saybrook University, USA.
